SocialVibe

The SocialVibe widget allows you to get sponsored by a paying brand and earn donations for the charity of your choice.

This is a wonderful gadget for those seeking to earn charitable donations from their blog.

To install this gadget, use the link below (or from the "Add a Gadget" section of your Blogger dashboard). On the gadget set-up screen, you will be able to choose the particular charity which you would like to support.

The list is updated regularly, but at the time of writing this post, there are  36 charities in total whom we may choose to support, ranging from Keep a Breast to The Nature Conservancy, DonorsChoose.org and many more between.

Once you have chosen the charity you'd like to support, click "update" to see the change take effect in the preview box and then save your gadget. The dimensions of the gadget do alter depending on the width available in your Blogger layout.

After successfully installing the SocialVibe gadget, view your blog in your web browser while logged into your Blogger/Google account.

You will notice a yellow panel within the gadget offering a link and means to sign up for an account with SocialVibe (or link this gadget to your account).

Signing up with SocialVibe enables many more benefits to using this gadget:

• Learn more about SocialVibe's mission
• Discover new ways to earn points (and therefore donations) to your chosen charity
• Control which sponsors appear in your gadget
• And much more!

SocialVibe's gadget earns donations by displaying media from sponsors. When your blog readers interact with the gadget's media, this earns points which translate as donations to the charity you have chosen.

Neither you nor your blog readers need spend a penny to interact with the gadget. Simply by viewing or interacting with your sponsor's media, you can generate valuable sponsor-led contributions to the organizations which matter most to you.

Entourage (OpenSocial Friends Gallery)

This is an awesome, Flash-driven gadget which displays a gallery of all OpenSocial friends affiliated to your blog.

EN: At random selection of pictures of friends. NL: Gadget toont een willekeurige selectie profielfoto's van vrienden.

You only need to install this gadget with a couple of clicks: your OpenSocial friends are automatically generated and will display in your sidebar/layout widget.

Note: this gadget is quite wide, and is best displayed in wide sidebars and widgetized sections of your layout.

A really useful gadget which displays thumbnails of members of your site, linked to their homepage.

When installed, you and your visitors will be welcomed by a greeting message, and a prompt to add your homepage URL to the database. Then once the page is refreshed, your thumbnail will link directly to your site.

Social Events

Feeds in Tabs

While not specifically designed for use in Blogger blogs, Google's "Feeds in Tabs" gadget is awesome, and wholly compatible with Blogger templates.

Read up to four Atom or RSS feeds from within a single gadget using tabs. Feed titles and descriptions are optionally included and can be turned off. Customize the font-size and text for tab titles. Fetch 3-12 entries per feed including summaries if available.

Add the title and URL of each feed you would like to include in the gadget. You could, for example, add the following:

• Your Blogger posts feed for recent posts
• Your Blogger comments feed for recent comments
• The URL of the RSS feed for your Twitter updates
• Any important blogs you follow or are affiliated with

The font size of the headings may be customized for aesthetic purposes, and to ensure your titles fit within the available space.

Further choices include:

• Display descriptions (summaries of entries in each feed)
• Length of summaries (if chosen)
  
• Number of entries for the feeds
• Render HTML (this enables links and images to be displayed)
• Show timestamp (date of each entry).

My DeviantArt Gallery

This gadget displays thumbnails of your recent works from DeviantArt.

Installation is a little complicated, though this method is created to prevent others using your DeviantArt thumbnails on their own blogs. Firstly you must register your DeviantArt profile on DeviantShare.com (follow the instructions under the "Blogger" tab). Then once registered you can add your username in the gadget itself.

You can also choose to animate your thumbs in a gallery.

Flickr Photostream

Add thumbnails of your recent public Flickr uploads to your blog layout. Width adjusts to fit in the space available, and updates whenever you upload a new image (based on Flickr RSS updates).

To add this gadget to your blog, you only need your Flickr  yusername (not your Used ID). The gadget will look up your username and will display recent thumbnails accordingly.

You can control how many thumbnails are displayed, and also whether to display a link to your Flickr photos page.
